Wrap Up

17 Jun

It’s Friday. I have not blogged as much as I would have liked for this site this week, but it has been a busy week nonetheless. My wrap-up of the weeks’ events won’t be nearly as kick-ass as NPH’s “rap-up” from the Tony Awards. But not too many things can live up to that…

So here’s what went down:

  • I had a guest post up at …And Nobody Told Me The topic was personal and sensitive, but one that is important to me. I’m not sure that it is a topic that everybody can relate to, but I suspect that there are quite a few women out there who can relate. We just don’t talk about it, and I kinda think that should change.  So I want to thank the ladies over at …And Nobody Told Me for being such gracious hosts!
  • I finished a picture! This is hanging directly across from Hannah’s swing. It was blank wall, and I felt guilty when she would just stare at nothingness when she was in her swing. So I painted something with large contrasting shapes for her to look at. And while it isn’t necessarily what I would hang there originally (and it’s not as cleaned-up as I would like), Baby loves it. She  has been staring at it non-stop. And that is what matters. Also, it was a “quick and dirty” painting. It usually takes me awhile to complete a painting – a lot of the work is done in the sketch prep. But this one I whizzed through. I mean, it took me a while to finish it but that is because I had limited time to work on it. Actual painting time was a fraction of my previous investments.

  • I went back to work. I am extremely lucky in that I get to work from home for the next six weeks before returning to the office. I am so thankful for that. But it is still an adjustment. Not enough time during the day.
  • My application to switch programs has been accepted! So as some of you may know, I was enrolled in a PhD program for English Lit. And while I didn’t hate it, it coincided with my pregnancy, and all of a sudden my priorities changed. The risks and investment associated with the PhD were not worth it anymore now that it wasn’t just my husband and I. So I started working in an archive position, which I LOVE, and I switched my program to Master’s in Library and Information Science, with a concentration in Archival Administration. So I get to be a real live archivist!! I am super excited.

All right , that pretty much sums up my week. This weekend is Father’s Day! Here is a little peek:

Have a lovely weekend everyone! See you on Sunday for SOC, and don’t forget the Read-Along on Monday!
